The Collective: The Work Continues…

New Image

The Collective — Teach For America-Charlotte’s Alumni of Color Association — was established this past summer. Under the leadership of Chairwoman Erica Jordan-Thomas (Charlotte ’08), the group has crafted the following mission statement: The Collective of Charlotte will engage, empower, and equip alumni, staff, current corps members, and future corps members of color to embody leadership so that they will continue to be agents of change in the pursuit of constructing Charlotte into a national proof point for educational equality.  The fundamental mission of our work is to amplify the capacity of our revolution for equitable education, and to change the reality of people of color in Charlotte. We will serve as a place to share and celebrate our individual stories, while building a web of relationships that promotes access to opportunities for growth, internally and externally. We will be charged with a sense of value, and leveraged for our collective knowledge and experiences to build the cultural competence of our region.

The next Collective meeting will be held on Thursday, January 10th at 6:00pm at the TFA Office. RSVP to lisa.guckian@teachforamerica.org.
